REVERSE APPLIQUÉ INSTRUCTIONS:

Fabric Prep: Appliqué fabric should be washed and dried prior to using so that it’s preshrunk.

Reverse appliqué is the process of applying the fabric underneath the garment and stitching the design, then cutting away the garment to show the fabric underneath. This process will only work for garments that can be cut without unraveling, such as sweatshirts and t-shirts.

The process is simple. You need to hoop your garment with a layer of cutaway stabilizer on the bottom, then a layer of the fabric on top of the stabilizer, then the garment on top of the fabric. Make sure the fabric completely covers the hooped area and everything is smooth with no wrinkles. Place the hooped garment on the machine and run the design. Once finished, you will use scissors to trim the garment inside the stitches to reveal the fabric underneath. I recommend using a thread color that contrasts the color of the garment, so the stitches stand out.

Happy Stitching!
